ICC announced a huge prize money for the finalists of WTC 2025. This exciting match will be played between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s on June 11. South Africa has entered the WTC 2025 Final by winning brilliant series over Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to top the WTC 2025 points table. They also drew the home series against the Indian team brilliantly. On the other hand, their opponent Team Australia has finished second in the WTC 2025 points table and they reached the race for the WTC 2025 final by defeating the Indian team 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
ICC Announced Huge Prize Money For WTC 2025 Finalists
The International Cricket Council announced on Thursday, May 19, that the total prize money in the WTC 2025 Final will be US $ 5.76 million which is Rs 49.27 crore in Indian rupees, which is more than 2 times the prize money of the previous edition.The prize money for the WTC 2025 winner has been increased by Rs 1.6 million each time.
Announced by the ICC, “The WTC champion team will receive USD 3.6 million, more than double the USD 1.6 million awarded by the ICC in both 2021 and 2023, while the WTC runners-up will receive USD 2.16 million, up from USD 800,000.”
The Indian team, which has reached the finals of the last two times in WTC 2021 and 2023, has finished third in the WTC 2023-25 points table. They will be awarded the prize money of 1.44 million US dollars which is Rs 12.32 crore in Indian rupees.
Jay Shah, Honorable Chairman of ICC said, “We have seen a very interesting and exciting third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship, where the WTC finalists were decided only at the end of the competition.”
