In yesterday’s match, Punjab Kings successfully defended the lowest score in IPL history, which is why the target of 112 runs proved difficult for Kolkata Knight Riders. Bowlers of both PBKS and KKR teams like Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakraborty, Sunil Narine, Marco Jensen performed brilliantly.
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. PBKS got off to a great start as Punjab’s score was 39/0 after 3.1 overs. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh gave their team a good start in the powerplay. However, Arya’s wicket slowed down the match. From 39/0, Punjab Kings were all out for 111.
Harshit Rana took 3 wickets for 25 runs in 3 overs. Varun Chakravarthy took 2 wickets for 21 runs and Sunil Narine took 2 wickets for 14 runs. Prabhsimran Singh proved to be the best batsman for PBKS, who scored runs in 15 balls. KKR was given a target of 112 runs, which was to be achieved easily.
On the other hand, KKR lost their openers really badly in the match, for some time captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi held the KKR innings. They were moving ahead in the run chase with 72/3 after 9 overs. But going ahead, KKR lost 7 wickets for 23 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal who took 4 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs. Marco Jansen finished the match well with his 3-17 figures as PBKS beat KKR by 16 runs.
