Today, on March 30, 2025, in the IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Visakhapatnam, Aniket Verma once again showcased his explosive batting skills, further cementing his reputation as SRH’s bowler. SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. However, SRH suffered early set backs and the team was reduced to 25/3 in 2.3 overs after the dismissals of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan.
Uncapped star Aniket Verma
The 23-year-old uncapped star Aniket Verma stepped onto the field at an uncertain time. He started cautiously but got a lifeline in the sixth over when Abhishek Porel dropped his straight catch at extra cover. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Verma dramatically changed her strategy and introduced her aggressive batting style.
Along with Heinrich Klaasen, he breathed life into SRH‘s innings by making a quick partnership of 74 runs in just 41 balls. Despite wickets falling in quick succession at the other end, including the dismissal of heinrich klaasen, Verma scored runs at a rapid pace and completed her maiden IPL half-century in just 34 balls. His innings included several huge sixes that devastated the DC bowling attack, which included Mitchell Starc, Axar Patel and Mohit Sharma.
Aniket Verma’s half-century
With SRH at 123/7 by the 14th over, Verma’s half-century provided a ray of hope amid the collapse of DC’s bowlers, especially Mitchell Starc, who had demolished the top order. Verma’s innings came to an end later, but not before he left an indelible mark, showcasing his ability to hit sixes fearlessly, which made him a great find for SRH. His performance today reminded of his previous performance against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 27, where he scored 36 runs in 13 balls with the help of five sixes, helping SRH reach 190/9.
